Visit to Göteborg

Today Crown Princess Victoria spent the day in Göteborg where she attended events focusing on marine littering, microplastics, the Baltic Sea status, new environmental requirements for hydropower and fisheries control in protected areas.

Her first stop was the University of Göteborg where she had the opportunity to learn more about ongoing research on microplastics and chemicals. She was welcomed by the Head of the Department of Biology and Environmental Science Henrik Aronsson and Bethanie Carney Almroth, associate professor of ecotoxicology. Bethanie Carney Almroth is leading the Departement’s research on the environmental effects of plastics and plastic-related chemicals in aquatic organisms and she also told Crown Princess Victoria about the need for broad cooperation to solve environmental problems.

Afterward, Crown Princess Victoria visited the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management where she met with Director General Jakob Granit and other employees to learn more about their work such as marine spatial planning, Baltic Sea status and a national plan for hydropower. Crown Princess Victoria was also able to learn about their work regarding fishing control in protected areas .The Agency has overall responsibility for fishing control and supervises fishing in real time in areas where trawling is prohibited.

Crown Princess Victoria wore a black coat that she debuted last year with her Heartmade jacket and Rodebjer blouse. She paired the outfit with her Gianvito Rossi ankle boots from last December and her Hippi Grace tote bag. Her earrings are by Maria Nilsdotter and she wore her favorite bracelets, the Ebba Brahe 3 Stars Bracelet, Eyes Wide Open Bracelet and Bridge Bracelet.
