On Tuesday, Crown Princess Victoria visited Stockholm Vatten och Avfalls and saw their award winning biochar project.
Visiting their Högdalen office, the Crown Princess alongside financial councilor, Anna Köning Jerlmy, and Katarin Luhr, environmental and climate councilor, received information about waste management in Stockholm and the planned new automated waste sorting facility. They then had the opportunity to see the award winning Biochar Project
Stockholm Biochar Project is the result of a prestigious innovation competition, the Mayors Challenge, in which Stockholm was one of five winners in competition against 155 other cities. Biochar is produced from Stockholm's garden waste. “It helps trees and plant beds to flourish while contributing to the mitigation of climate change by binding the carbon in the ground instead of dispersing it into the air as carbon dioxide.” You can read more about the project HERE. This is the Crown Princess’ fourth publicized visit to waste management plants around Sweden over the past few years as she continues to seek more information in her commitment to environmental and sustainability issues.
Crown Princess Victoria wore her MaxMara Coat over her Greta Jacket. She wore her Acne boots and what appear to be new hoop earrings. On her left wrist were her favorite bracelets : the Ebba Brahe 3 Stars Bracelet, Eyes Wide Open Bracelet, Bridge Bracelet and her Sophie by Sophie heart bracelet and on her right wrist she wore her Carl Edmond watch.
