Princess Sofia supports Project Playground
While many of the Royal Family spent the last month solely in Borgholm on the island of Öland- Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia slipped away to take their family on a few trips to different parts of Sweden.
The Swedish Press has previously reported the family’s holiday in Gotland where they were seen jogging on the island and treating their young boys to ice cream at a local shop. Princess Sofia also managed to slip away, traveling to Gothenburg to support Project Playground at the Gothia Cup. In the photo shared by PPG, the Princess could be seen holding her young son Prince Alexander.
Princess Sofia cofounded Project Playground with Frida Vesterberg prior to her marriage. The nonprofit helps to give children in Cape Town, South Africa extracurricular activities and support which many would not receive at home. The foundation gives the children a hot meal, social interactions, and social services that so many of these children need.
Gothia Cup is the world’s largest international youth football tournament. Held annual in Gothenburg, over 1,700 teams participate from 80 different nations. For the past few years, Project Playground has sent their football team to Sweden to play in this tournament with the support of the PPG partners.
