Crown Princess Joins Youth for Run through the Park
On Tuesday, June 4th, Crown Princess Victoria joined a group of young people for a 3 kilometer run through Hellasgården in Nacka.
This run was organized by Bara Vanlig, a group begun in 2016 for people cognitive function variation. Niclas Wennerlund noticed a lack of training groups for people with Cognitive function variation when trying to find a group for his young daughter to be active with. Seeing the need, he began Bara Vanlig. Today the group is in 10 locations around Sweden and hopes to be throughout the entire country by 2021.
During her visit, Crown Princess Victoria joined the group for a warm-up, a jog which went a little over 3 kilometers through the forrest, and then a snack break which was filled with discussions. The group utilizes volunteers to offer individuals with cognitive function variation an outlet to be social, active, and enjoy the outdoors.
Volunteers for Bara Vanlig must undergo an online training course which helps to educate them on cognitive functional variation as well as helping them to view the condition as a different strength and opportunity rather than a weakness and difference.
Bara Vanlig is one of the associations and projects supported by the Crown Princess Couple Foundation. The foundation, set up after the wedding of Crown Princess Victoria to Daniel Westling, supports those who work “to combat exclusion and promote good health for children and young people.” Bara Vanlig is the perfect mix of both of those missions.
For this occasion, Crown Princess Victoria wore black training pants and a simple black stop. She paired this with hot pink running shoes from New Balance and kept her jewelry simple by wearing Dulong stud earrings, Carl Edmond Watch, and I could spot her Ebba Brahe Eyes Wide Open bracelet peaking out of her sleeve.
