The Crown Princess began this hike initiative after her 40th Birthday in 2017 and is scheduled to finish hiking all the provinces by her birthday of this year. With the hikes, the Crown Princess wants to experience different parts of Sweden during different seasons and to highlight the treasure that Swedish nature is for everyone who lives and works here. Gästrikland is one of Princess Madeleine’s duchy’s.

The hike began by the Crown Princess taking a boat named after her mother “Drottning Silvia” from Furuviksbrygga to the start of the hike at Engeltofta. There, Crown Princess Victoria and the hikers were greeted by the governor before hiking along the coastal path in Norrlandet. Along this first part of the hike to Brädviken, the hikers received information about the cultural environment before meeting with Naturkraft Gästrikland.
