Crown Princess Victoria hikes Gästrikland
On the 7th of June, Crown Princess Victoria completed her 24rd hike of Gästrikland.
The Crown Princess began this hike initiative after her 40th Birthday in 2017 and is scheduled to finish hiking all the provinces by her birthday of this year. With the hikes, the Crown Princess wants to experience different parts of Sweden during different seasons and to highlight the treasure that Swedish nature is for everyone who lives and works here. Gästrikland is one of Princess Madeleine’s duchy’s.
The hike began by the Crown Princess taking a boat named after her mother “Drottning Silvia” from Furuviksbrygga to the start of the hike at Engeltofta. There, Crown Princess Victoria and the hikers were greeted by the governor before hiking along the coastal path in Norrlandet. Along this first part of the hike to Brädviken, the hikers received information about the cultural environment before meeting with Naturkraft Gästrikland.
From Brädviken, the Crown Princess walked to Gröndalsängar and Sjövik. During this leg of the hike, they were informed about the bird life that is found along the coast of Gästrikland. Upon reaching Gefle Segel Sällskaps Boat Harbor in Huseliiharen, the Crown Princess got to meet with local scouts who involved her in their activities. It was then time for lunch.
After lunch, the hikers walked to Engesbergs Camping Ground where they were met by KF Heros. KF Heros is a sports organization for people with functional disabilities which operates in Gävle. Next up was a trip to the local football field to observe “The Summer Ball” before the hikers continued on to Böna Cafe. There, the hikers received a sample of broccoli.
Next, the hike went to the nature reserve, Gråberget where the couty adminstrative board told about the fishing industry along the coast. Hikers were able to observe the old fine forest preserved inside of the nature reserve in addition to receiving information about the Swedish Armed Forces’ facility located on the mountain. The hikers then made their final stretch to Argos football field where the local Taekwondo club had arranged a demonstration and activities for the participants.
For this hike, Crown Princess Victoria wore a perfect spring outfit with a white eyelet blouse with jeans. She wore her Adidas x Stella McCartney sneakers and on her back was her Fjällräven backpack. She accessorized with jewels from Efva Attling and Sophie by Sophie and on her wrist her Carl Edmond watch could be seen.
