The Crown Princess began this hike initiative after her 40th Birthday in 2017 and is scheduled to finish hiking all the provinces by her birthday of this year. With the hikes, the Crown Princess wants to experience different parts of Sweden during different seasons and to highlight the treasure that Swedish nature is for everyone who lives and works here. Medelpad is located in the middle of two rivers Ljungan and Indalsälven.

The hike began in the north of Värsjöberget, inside of Jämtgaveln's nature reserve in Ånge municipality where the Crown Princess and other hikers were welcomed by county governor Berit Högman. Along the path, hikers were created by a medieval pilgrimer who told about the St Olof and other pilgrim walkers who passed by the area on their way to Nidaros Cathedra in Trondheim. This pilgrim was played by Anna Lundström, the cultural director in Bräcke municipality.

Next along the trail, the hikers were greated by John Granbo, the reserve manager at the County Adminstrative Board in Väsernorrland County. Mr. Granbo shared about their work on nature conservation burning, something that is unique to Jämtgaveln. No other natura reserve has carried out as many burns as they have. Next, hikers met with biologist Per Simonsson who told about the formation of the nature reserve.

Next, the group met up with Olov Aksel and Susanne Thomasson from Jovnevaerrie who shared about the Sami village, local reindeer herding, and how they used the lands. The group was also treated to a performance of various Joiks (traditional Sami songs) by Kristoffer “Krasta” Thomasson and Inger-Biret Gaup Kvernmo. The group then hiked to Götes Hut where hikers recieved information about the early forestry. The hike concluded north of Värsjön.

She paired this with a Craft Backpack, Lundhag Boots (we’ve reached out to the brand for more information), and Dulong Balloon earrings. On her head she wore a cap sporting the logo of the New York Yankees.
