Prince Couple attend Final Performance of the Eskapist
On the evening of Saturday, 27 April, Prince Carl Philip and and Princess Sofia attended the final performance of the ballet Eskapist (Escapist) at the Royal Opera House in Stockholm.
Eskapist was choreographed by the pre-eminent contemporary choreographer Alexander Ekman for the Swedish Royal Ballet. Featuring 37 dancers from the Royal Swedish Ballet the production travels with the principal dancer, Oscar Salomonsson, as he drifts off into a daydream and disappears into an imaginary world. The production offers the audience a chance to “escape reality” while mixing in independent thinking and encouraging them to enter the world of imagination.
Watching from the royal box, the couple took in the show’s final production, which ran from 5 April to 27 April, and met with the performers and creators after the show. Alongside of Ekman, the creative team also included composer Mikael Karlsson and acclaimed fashion/costume designer Henrik Vibskov.
